Split Fiction: A Co-Op Adventure Blending Sci-Fi and Fantasy
Hazelight Studios and Electronic Arts have launched Split Fiction, a cooperative action-adventure game that merges sci-fi and fantasy elements. Released on March 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, with a Nintendo Switch 2 version following on June 5, the game has drawn praise for its innovative mechanics and immersive storytelling.
Players control writers Mio Hudson and Zoe Foster, trapped in a simulation of their own creations after a corporate heist targets their intellectual property. The gameplay hinges on two-player cooperation, whether online or locally, as participants navigate dynamically shifting worlds—from medieval landscapes to neon-lit metropolises.
Built on Unreal Engine 5, Split Fiction represents a technical leap for co-op experiences. Director Josef Fares continues his tradition of narrative-driven multiplayer design, following the success of It Takes Two. The game supports 11 languages, reflecting its global ambitions in the competitive gaming market.
